Today is the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. Those of you who follow the History Tourist on Facebook know that I spent my lunch hour at the Lincoln Memorial in DC, watching a reenactment of the address. This is just a quick post with some extra photos.
First came Edward Everett of Massachusetts: U.S. Representative, U.S. Senator, governor, diplomat and president of Harvard. Thankfully, the Everett reenactor did not speak for two hours, as did the original. I don’t know what he cut out, but 15 minutes and he was done.
Then came Abraham Lincoln. No introduction necessary.
